9-24 Newsom Stadium Rehearsal

Monday, September 24th

4:45pm-7:15pm

Brass, Woodwind, & Drumline members are asked to wear their gray rehearsal t-shirt and marching shoes to the stadium rehearsal.

*Gray rehearsal t-shirts were distributed to the students in classes as soon as they arrive.

3:00pm            Ice chests and water available for water jug filling per normal procedures

3:15pm            Load trucks at Lake Ridge

-Front Ensemble, Battery, Sousaphones, & Drum Majors assist with loading trucks

3:45pm            Trucks depart Lake Ridge for stadium

4:00pm            Trucks arrive at stadium and unload on South end of stadium near the scoreboard

-Front Ensemble, Battery, Sousaphones, & Drum Majors assist with unloading trucks

4:15pm            All else arrive at stadium and park on the South side of the stadium near the scoreboard

4:45pm            Set attendance block/rehearsal starts

7:15pm            Rehearsal ends/Load trucks

-Front Ensemble, Battery, Sousaphones, & Drum Majors assist with loading trucks

7:45pm            Trucks depart for Lake Ridge

8:00pm            Trucks unload at Lake Ridge

-Front Ensemble, Battery, Sousaphones, & Drum Majors assist with truck unloading

Unfortunately, no MISD bus transportation to or from Newsom Stadium can be provided.  Due to normal bus routes, MISD is unable to provide bus transportation at this time of the day.  If you have a transportation issue, it is your responsibility to communicate this with Mr. Bonebrake immediately.  If absolutely necessary, a ride will be found for you.  Attendance is required of all band members.  A lack of transportation is not an excuse to miss the rehearsal.

Thursday, September 27th Football Game Performance Timeline

Middle School Band Night

3:00pm-Formal marching uniforms placed on chairs within sections within Band Hall 1.  Change into rehearsal attire – black LR Band rehearsal shorts/thin athletic shorts, green LR Band rehearsal t-shirt, long black socks, & marching shoes

3:05pm-Those students who purchased the F3 meals from the LREBB at registration should wait within BH1 to be called in groups to receive F3 meals.  All others should otherwise make plans to eat.  F3 meal recipients must have their school ID in order to receive their F3 meal.

3:15pm-F3 meal in the cafeteria

4:00pm-Brief rehearsal begins outside; rehearsal attire – black LR Band shorts/thin athletic shorts, green LR Band rehearsal t-shirt, long black socks, & marching shoes

4:30pm-Rehearsal ends
, restroom break, load trucks

4:40pm-Section Leaders meet with Mr. Bonebrake in room E143.

4:45pm-Formal Marching Uniform Inspection process

5:15pm-Load school buses in full uniform with all instruments within cases

5:30pm-Depart for Vernon Newsom Stadium

5:45pm-Arrive at Vernon Newsom Stadium, unload buses, unload trucks, & file into bleachers and set block.

6:00pm-File out of bleachers with your flip folders/lyres

6:15pm-Set block for pregame mass band stand-still performance of Land of 1000 Dances and Crunch Time with 8thgrade band students and junior drill team dancers

6:35pm-Pregame mass band stand-still performance with 8thgrade band students and junior drill team dancers

6:50pm-Perform Alma Mater and Fight Song from the end zone.

6:59pm-File into bleachers

7:00pm-Game begins

App. 10:00pm-Game ends, load buses, & load trucks

App. 10:30pm-Depart for Lake Ridge. A Remind text message will be sent out upon leaving the stadium with an approximate ETA at Lake Ridge.

App. 10:45pm-Arrive at Lake Ridge, unload buses, unload trucks, & go home

7:15am Band Hall open    
8:15am Arrive and prepare for rehearsal
8:45am Rehearsal begins
  -rehearsal attire – black show t-shirt, black LR rehearsal shorts/this athletic shorts, long black socks, marching shoes
9:30am Rehearsal ends, restroom break, load trucks
9:40am Section Leader Meeting in E143 prior to inspection
9:45am Uniform Inspection
10:15am Load buses in half uniform; receive snack from LREBB to be eaten on the way to Pennington Field
10:30am Depart for Pennington Field
11:15am Arrive, check-in, unload trucks, restroom break
  Front Ensemble, Battery, Sousaphones, and prop helpers go to the trucks
  (prop helpers do not need shakos, plumes, or instruments)
11:55am Winds and colorguard set attendance block near buses
  Winds receive plumes near buses
Noon Move to Music Warm-up Area B
  Receive a bottle of water from the LREBB
12:05pm Music Warm-up B
12:45pm Front Ensemble move to performance ready line
1:05pm Winds, battery, and colorguard move to performance ready line
1:15pm Prelims Performance
1:30pm Receive water at performance exit area and move to the buses
  -Return battery, front ensemble, sousaphones, and props back to trucks
  -Return plumes
  -Load instruments onto buses
  -Change out of marching uniform
  -Change into black LR shorts, black show t-shirt, and either athletic shoes or marching shoes
  -Use restroom near stadium then meet as a full group by the buses
2:00pm Receive lunch competition meal served by the LREBB
3:00pm File into the bleachers to watch the remainder of prelims
4:15pm Drum Majors & Colorguard officers report to the track in full marching uniform
4:30pm Preliminary Awards Ceremony
4:45pm File out of the stadium
5:00pm Receive dinner competition meal served by the LREBB

  1. Finals Admission Pass (Finals only) – Adults – $15.00; 60+ guests – $10.00; 6 years and younger – free

 

  1. Spectator parking – Free parking is available in the stadium parking lot.

 

Student Reminders:

 

  1. Every academically eligible student will attend all marching contests.

 

  1. Instruments are to be clean and in perfect working order.

 

  1. Uniform is to be clean and wrinkle free.

 

  1. Marching shoes are to be clean and free of any visible imperfections.

 

  1. Black show t-shirts will be distributed in classes upon their arrival from the vendor
