Date: October 25, 2024
Greetings Band Families,
We are on the road again this week, headed to Weatherford. On Friday, October 25th, we will be at Kangaroo Stadium to play Weatherford High School. We are so excited about this week, and we look forward to volunteering with you.
If this is your first time volunteering with us this school year, please complete the MISD Volunteer Background Check https://www.mansfieldisd.org/parents-students/campus-volunteers, select Begin the Application Process, and then choose Lake Ridge to start the application.
Truck Loaders and Unloaders- Volunteers will meet at Lake Ridge and help load the truck for football games and contests. You will ride in the truck with the truck drivers and help load and unload the trucks with the students. Please arrive by 4:00.
Bus Chaperones – Volunteers will ride the buses to and from the event with the students. You will be required to take attendance when you get on the bus at LRHS and again when loading the buses for the return trip. You will need to sit near the band during the event and help with any chaperone needs such as taking the students to the restroom. You will also be needed to place and pick up the flip tubs at halftime. Please be advised that you may not be on the same bus as your child. Bus assignments are subject to change based on the number of volunteers for each game. Meet in the band hall no later than 5:00 to get bus assignments and rosters; will begin loading buses at 5:15 (Times subject to change)
F3 Meals-Volunteers should arrive at LRHS between 3:15 and 3:30. Morgan Busby will be your contact. You can also enter through the band hall door or the door to the hallway near the cafeteria and walk to the cafeteria to help with food set up, distribution, and clean up if you arrive at 3:30. Please come early.
Photographer – Volunteers will take pictures of the LRHS Band during their performance and in the stands. These pictures will need to be uploaded to our LRHS Band Smug Mug account.
Water/Snacks at the game – Volunteers will hand out water and snacks to the LRHS band students after their performance. The location to hand out water and snacks will be behind the scoreboard on the south end of the football field at Newsom Stadium. As the band comes off the field, they will head to the stands and pick these items up along the way.
Movers: Ensemble and Drum Major Podiums/ Ladders – Volunteers will assist in getting equipment onto the field and into position, then removed after the performance. Front podiums should be set up on the front sideline on each 35-yard line. The back podium should be set up on the back sideline on the 35-yard. The percussion students will aid in showing you where to help place their instruments.
Props-Volunteers will help move props onto and off of the field. Please meet at the trucks 1 hour before performance time. You will push the prop from the truck to the staging area and then to the end zone. After the band performs, you will take the same prop back to the truck. Volunteers will also help load/unload and assemble/disassemble the props. No experience necessary. You will be taught.
Uniforms (after the game) – Volunteers will be checking uniforms after the game to make sure they are hung correctly before being put back in the uniform room. Volunteers will need to be at the band hall before the busses get back to receive the students.
